Channels TV Terminates Pastor Bakare’s Broadcast Over ‘Critical Comment’ On Nigerian Govt.

Channels Television, a Lagos-based independent 24-hour news station, on Sunday suddenly terminated a broadcast by fiery pastor, Tunde Bakare, over claims the tone of the message was critical of the Nigerian government, Premium Times reports. 

Moment of Truth, a one-hour recorded paid programme, through which Mr. Bakare broadcasts messages he preaches in his church, The Latter Rain Assembly, runs every Sunday on the Lagos channel of the station, between 5p.m. and 6p.m.

But 45 minutes into the programme on Sunday, Channels terminated the programme just as Pastor Bakare was making comments considered critical of the Nigerian government.

Four members of the same family– a father, mother and their two kids– have been crushed to death by a truck laden with bags of rice. The accident was said to have happened along the Iwo-Ibadan Road in Osun State, according to Punch.

A passenger in a commercial bus, who witnessed the accident, told our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday that Mr. and Mrs. Olumide Bankole; their children, Sharon and Shama, were crushed to death by the truck which lost control in an attempt to avoid running into a queue of vehicles on the road due to a police checkpoint.

Enugu Catholic priest and founder of the Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka yesterday while giving a sermon at the Christ the King Catholic Parish GRA, Enugu, yesterday said he has been receiving threat messages after his Dec. 31^st, message where he asked Nigerians to vote President Jonathan out. But says if the threats had moved him, he won’t be standing in their presence and preaching. His words;

“Tell them I am not afraid of them. I have said what I was asked to say. The only word I have for them is Isaiah 54:15,17: “Surely they shall gather, but because the gathering is not of God they shall scatter. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper.

Nigerian Choir Breaks Guinness World Record

The Akwa Ibom State choral group has broken the world record for the largest number of Christmas carol singers in the world. The record, which has been officially certified by the Guinness World Records and pasted on itswebsite, www.guinessworldrecords.com, was broken by the unity choir, a 25,272 man-choral group, in a concert in the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday, December 13, 2014 with Guinness World Records representatives in attendance. 

The new record beats the former one which recorded 15,674 carol singers, in December, 2013 by a group known as CENTI in Bogota, Columbia.

Hilda Dokubo Speaks On Acting & Why She Left Lagos

Hilda Dokubo in an interview with Yes Magazine’s publisher, Azuh Arinze has explained why she left Lagos for Rivers State and what acting has not done for her. Hilda used to be very popular some years ago in the movie industry before she delved into other things like politics, but she insists she’s still very much into acting. 

What has acting not done for you?

Acting has stolen (Laughter) my privacy. What it has not given to me is – it’s not given me the ability to be as private as I want to be. I’m a very private person, but you can’t be private when you are a celebrity and you are in the face of people all the time. People consider you a role model, people are busy setting standards for you, people are busy assuming they know what you want and all of that. 

So, it steals your privacy from you.

APC Commiserates With Jonathan On The Death Of His Sister

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in a statement issued today by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan on the untimely death of his sister, urging him to take solace in God for the unquantifiable loss.

The party said the loss of a loved one is always an unfathomable tragedy, which is compounded when such death occurs at an unripe age.

”We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of the departed, comfort the President and his entire family and give them the strength to bear their loss. We also wish the immediate family of the deceased God’s succour in their moment of darkness,” the statement said.
