Suspend Obanikoro Now, Socio-Political Group Tells PDP

A socio-political group, Lagos non-indigene Alliance, has urged PDP to immediately suspend Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who sued the party last week.

According to the group, Obanikoro deserves to be suspended like the former national chairman was also suspended for taking the party to court.

 ]'The statement made available to press read in part, “The PDP leadership should look into Obanikoro’s loyalty, intention and agenda. He should be suspended immediately like the former national chairman to serve as a deterrent to others who might run to court over issues without waiting for the National Working Committee.

“We confirm that non-indigenes in Lagos State are behind Jimi Agbaje who is a humble man. We all agree that the candidate should be a Christian and we will support him.”

They urged the party leaders not to conduct a re-run election for the governorship ticket, threatening that non indigenous delegates would boycott the primary if it was done.

Indeed former head of state, Olusegun Obasanjo revealed a lot in his new book; My Watch, which a court has asked to be confiscated. In this biography book, Obasanjo revealed that he knew nothing about his late wife’s cosmetic surgery, where she wanted to have a tummy tuck and have a better shape for her forth coming 60^thbirthday party, before dying on the surgery table. The former head of state also revealed that the doctor was careless and he made sure his license was revoked for a period of time through the help of the Nigerian embassy in Spain and was also made to pay a fine, which Olu Obasanjo, her son received.

He said he was also fully aware that some Nigerians said he killed her in order to buttress his success, but nothing of such happened.

Kwara State University Students Will Soon Begin To Study Nollywood...VC Says

Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’ Allah, Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has inaugurated a committee to see to the establishment of the Centre for Nollywood Studies at the university, Leadership paper reports.

The Vice Chancellor stated this in his opening address on Monday at the Conference on African Cinema, organised by the university, with the theme: “African Cinema and the Supernatural”.

He said when operational, the centre would be charged with the responsibility of highlighting the role and effects of Nollywood films in the society. The centre would be a focal point where the meaning and relevance of Nollywood would be studied, he said.

Court Orders Obasanjo's Book Confiscated

Buruji Kashamu’s lawyers are not smiling! A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja today held that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in contempt of court for flouting orders restraining him from among others, publishing his autobiography – My Watch.

The judge in a ruling gave Obasanjo 21 days (from the day he will be served) to explain to the court why he should not be punished for contempt for going ahead to publish the book despite the ex-parte interim order made by the court on December 5 and a pending libel suit involving him.

The judge restrained him from further publishing, printing or offering for sale, the book, which content touches on the subject matter before the court.

The APC Convention which started yesterday to determine the party’s presidential candidate for 2015 is yet to end. As at this morning some states only started casting their votes. Aspirants and governors gave speeches all through the night and it looks like we will not know the party’s candidate until afternoon. But from the look of things, more delegates are behind Buhari as a stampede almost occurred when he was about mounting the podium to give his speech as most of them wanted to accompany him. Most candidates have started giving up from their looks, but Atiku seems to keep his hope high. Let’s keep our fingers crossed till the elections are over and the winner announced.

Three Policemen Get 2 Years In Jail For Jumping At ‘Free Food’

Lol awoof dey purge belle.  Three policemen were, yesterday, sentenced to two years imprisonment by Magistrate A. Demi-Ajayi of an Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Oyingbo, Lagos, over negligence, which resulted in the stealing of their AK-47.

The convicts are Sergeant Felix Okwa, 47; Corporal Ogu Romanus, 46, and Constable Sunday Okoh, 34. Apart from being jailed for two years, they will also serve a six-month community service after completing their jail term.

Couple Jailed For Killing 5-Year Old Girl With Excessive Soda

A cruel couple who forced a five-year-old girl to drink so much soda and water after they found her drinking a soda they said was reserved for adults, have been jailed. They were charged for murder when the girl’s brain swelled from excess soda and died.

Randall Vaughn, 42, and Mary Vaughn, 59 (pictured above) pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated child neglect and were sentenced to 35 years in prison on Monday in Rogersville, Tennessee.

The court heard they made the girl drink more than half a gallon of grape soda and water in just two hours.

Obanikoro’s Son Wins Primary Elections For Lagos Assembly

Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, son of former Minister of State for Defence and governorship aspirant for Lagos on the platform of PDP, Musiliu Obanikoro, was yesterday evening declared the winner of the party’s primary election for the candidacy of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obanikoro polled 18 votes against Muyiwa Ariyo, who got nine votes. The duo battled for the candidacy to represent Eti-Osa Constituency 2 at the House in the forthcoming election.

Fast Rising Act, Zee World Passes On

Iju/Agege has lost one of their own. Abdul Azeez Halidu popularly known as Zee World passed on today, November 30^th, 2014 after a long battle with cancer which affected his music career for a long time. Zeeworld was known for his hit single Tentebo and worked with the likes of Terry G, Reminisce, Skales, YQ amongst others before cancer struck him down. His mom, Madam Halidu is said to have spent over N4m solely on him since last year that the battle began and she is said to be inconsolable right now.  Zee World was 34. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Sadly, it's also a personal loss. Left me weak all day.

Nigerian Police Officers Honoured In Dubai

The Ogun State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has bagged an award for the Most Outstanding Crime Bursting Police Command in West Africa. The award was given by the Security Watch Africa at its 11th Lectures and Awards ceremony held at Al Ghurair Hotel and Event Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ,from November 25 to 27.

Others who also won at the awards ceremony include the command’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi; Mr. Manko; the officer in charge Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Ogun State, Mohammed Tijani; and the Commissioners of Police in Kano, Sokoto and Katsina.

Pope Condemns Kano Mosque Bombings

Pope Francis has condemned the deadly attacks that occurred at the emir of Kano’s Central mosque in Kano on Friday, which killed over 200 and wounded 270. He described the act as an “extremely serious sin against God”. Pope who has been on a 3-day visit to Turkey with the aim of improving inter-faith ties made the comments today, the final day of his trip.

He further urged Muslim leaders to condemn the “barbaric violence” being committed in Islam’s name against religious minorities.

Boko Haram: Christians Will Soon Begin To Fight Back- Primate

Primate Ayodele Olabayo has once again called on President Jonathan to get a grip of this country. The leader of the Yahweh Church, who once warned against insurgents taking over some parts of Nigeria said, he told them something needs to be done back then to avert all the misfortunes the country now faces, but no one listened to him. He has spoken again, and here’s what he told City People magazine.

“The President has to be careful with the way he runs this country. “Those in government don’t even think of the poor people any longer. To start with, people are suffering, people are dying. Early this year, I spoke about the security problems,  that something needed to be done. I spoke about the Insurgency, Terrorism, they didn’t take this serious. The militants are involved in what is happening in the North.”

“All they are after and working towards is that they don’t want elections to take place there. And all these evil people are not being checked. Worst things are happening. People are not talking. Churches are being burnt; nothing is being done about it. It is not that we Christians can’t fight back or retaliate. It’s because we fear the Lord. It will get to a stage now where we would not agree any longer. Enough is enough. President Jonathan should stop all these nonsense before it consumes us all. I am afraid for him. He should stop all these killing of Christians and burning of churches. Enough is enough”.

The Creative Industry Night with President Jonathan held last Friday, 28^th of November, at Eko Hotel with over 1000 stars in attendance. Part of what however made the night interesting was what the two main contenders of PDP Lagos Governorship ticket had in common. Jimi Agbaje got to the event before Obanikoro did and he took out time to greet a lot of people soliciting the entertainers to look his way this time, in order to get the sole PDP’s ticket for Lagos State governorship election during its primaries this month. In like manner, when Obanikoro also strolled in, he did the same, but his own was from one table to another almost covering all the tables. During this, he got to Jimi’s table where he greeted everyone there and also extended a hand of friendship to his main contender, which also made Jimi get up and did a few more greetings. Lol… But honestly who would you want PDP to choose as its sole candidate for 2015 Governorship elections in Lagos? Obanikoro or Jimi Agbaje?
